The Endwell community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Connor Joseph Verdoliva, whose passing has left family members, friends, teammates, teachers, and classmates deeply devastated. Born on July 21, 2013, in Oswego, New York, Connor brought joy, laughter, and an undeniable energy into the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his time was far too short, the impact he made will be remembered for years to come.
Connor was a student at Maine-Endwell Middle School, where he was known for his bright personality, friendly nature, and infectious sense of humor. Teachers and classmates recall a student who could light up a room with a smile, a playful expression, or a lighthearted joke, always finding ways to include others and make them feel welcome.
He was also a passionate and dedicated young athlete who found great joy in sports and teamwork. Connor played for the Flash and Coal-Miner Soccer Clubs and participated in Maine-Endwell baseball, wrestling, and soccer programs. He previously competed in travel baseball with the Southern Tier Stingers. Coaches and teammates remember him for his enthusiasm, determination, sportsmanship, and genuine love for the games he played.
Beyond athletics, Connor embraced the simple joys of childhood. He enjoyed fishing, riding his bike with friends, playing video games, and sharing favorite meals such as ice cream and spaghetti with meatballs. These everyday moments reflected his happiness and created lasting memories for those who shared them with him.
Connor was preceded in death by his father, Zachary Verdoliva, his paternal great-grandfather Ronald Verdoliva Sr., and his maternal great-grandparents Geraldine and Bruce Whitney. He is survived by his loving parents, Ashley Deveney and Nicholas Tellefsen, who cherished him deeply, as well as grandparents, extended family members, cousins, and many others whose lives he touched.
The loss of Connor is immeasurable. His laughter, kindness, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone around him. As family and friends come together to celebrate his life, they do so with profound sorrow, but also with gratitude for the time they were blessed to share with him.
Visitation will be held at the Church of the Holy Family in Endwell, followed by a Funeral Mass. While his absence is deeply felt, Connor’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him, remembered always for the joy and light he brought into the world.
